Well, that settles it! Lady Gaga has finally confirmed that her heartbreaking new song, “Perfect Illusion,’ is definitely not about her ex-fiance, Taylor Kinney. Phew!
Lady Gaga, 30, wants everyone to know that it’s still nothing but love between her and ex-fiance, Taylor Kinney, 35. While chatting with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show on Monday, September 12, the “Perfect Illusion” completely dismissed the idea that the song was about their recent split.
“I love Taylor so, so much,” Lady Gaga explained. “This song is not a hit out against Taylor. He’s my best friend.” She later added, “It’s a record about all of us, and I would never use my song or want to use the public to hurt anyone that I love so much. … We’re just two people figuring it out.”
In fact, Lady Gaga took the opportunity to really set the record straight about the song by sharing what it’s really about: a feeling that everyone has had at least once about someone they thought they loved. “This song is just about, I’m sure, not only feelings I’ve had but feelings he’s had, that my friends have had, that my sister has in her relationship,” she elaborated.
This will leave many of their fans relieved, because after Lady Gaga and Taylor called off their engagement in July 2016, there were serious concerns that something had gone awfully wrong between the two lovebirds. Rumors swirled that there had been cheating, and there was even speculation that Lady Gaga had moved on with 61-year-old actor Ray Liotta. Crazy!
