Celine Dion, 48, is showing her inner strength after her husband, Rene Angelil, died in January 2016 after a long battle with cancer. The iconic singer sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for the first time since his death, and she was happy to share that she is doing so surprisingly well after losing the love of her life.
“It’s part of our life, it’s not… life has imposed this on him, that was his destiny. I still feel extremely unfortunate that he has given me three magnificent children, wonderful pieces of luggage, as an artist to feel confident and to have experienced enough and to keep going,” Celine explained. “I’m well because I know he’s not suffering anymore, because the hardest thing is not to lose somebody you love, it’s to see them suffer. For me to know that he is in a place where he doesn’t suffer anymore makes me feel way better.”
Celine went on to explain that despite everything, the one thing that she’s grateful for is how her three children handled their father’s death. “I feel extremely fortunate, as a mother that — it’s probably the thing that I’m the most proud of — how I prepared my children for how to live with him without his presence,” Celine explained. We really admire her strength!
