From ‘Somethin’ Bad’ to somethin’ new! Carrie Underwood used her duet with Miranda Lambert to create a whole new theme song for ‘Sunday Night Football,’ and it finally debuted Sept. 11! Watch it here.
“Oh, Sunday Night,” the new theme song for Sunday Night Football is set to the music of “Somethin’ Bad,” but is definitely something great, thanks to Carrie Underwood. Of course, this is the first time the actual song was changed in ten years — from 2006 to 2015, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” was set to the music of Joan Jett‘s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
The 33-year-old country star officially took over in 2013 from Faith Hill, but this year is when the big change occurred — and we have to say, we loved it.
Fred Gaudelli, executive producer of Sunday Night Football, told Rolling Stone that Carrie came up with the idea during the off season, and when she hit the studio, “the song instantly came to life, and will be a dynamic addition to our show.”
“It’s been great with the new song and there was kind of a new energy in the building today,” Carrie said in a behind the scenes clip. says. “It was nice to be around the guys and see them interact with each other and just get to hang around them for the day.
That includes New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. and Denver Broncos’ (and Dancing with the Stars stud) Von Miller. “It’s a lot of fun being able to come out here and do the open,” Odell said — and we all know he loves to dance.
