Burnt orange eyes, once a daunting and strictly high-fashion makeup look, is now becoming more mainstream thanks to celebs like Kylie Jenner and Brie Larson. See how you can rock the makeup look from Michael Costello’s Spring 2017 show in real life below.
Designer Michael Costello described the look for his Spring Summer 2017 show: “This season we really thought about how the natural beauty of a flower resembles that of a woman: Delicate, radiant, unique. The makeup speaks to our idea of how dark and moody is often glamorous, elegant and intriguing.”
Edward Cruz, lead makeup artist for INGLOT, said: “Michael stressed to us a passion for each model’s individual beauty, and challenged us to exude that personality through makeup.”
Edward explained to me backstage, the look was “inspired by nature. It’s botanical romance with burnt tones and berry lips. It’s editorial verses glam. The eyes have burnt tones with gold in the center, like a sunset.”
To get the look, Edward used INGLOT’s Freedom System Eye Shadow Matte #296 and #299 from the new What A Spice! Collection ($7 each) as the base, and layered on deep gold and berry sparkle using AMC Pure Pigment Eye Shadow #81 and #24 ($16 each).
On the lips, he layered the matte cranberry Lipstick #438 ($15) with AMC Lip Paint #58 ($14) to create an “opaque, berry ombre lip.”
Nails at the show were done by Essie.
