You go, girl! Ariel Winter, who has dealt with body shaming since she was 12, took to Instagram to stand up against bullies, saying plain and simple, ‘stop the hate.’ But her words are extra powerful because she is seeing things from the body shamers side. Find her inspiring message here.
Ariel Winter, 18, was so compassionate and loving in her Sept. 10 Instagram post, aimed at bullies and body shamers. And she was actually being compassionate and loving toward them! “Every time someone bullies me online, it gives me a chance to re-emphasize to my fans, and even myself, how important self-acceptance is,” the Modern Family star wrote. “Those who say such harsh things on my Instagram, thank you for this opportunity – but the question I ask myself every time I read the mean comments is if this is how you talk to a stranger online, I can only imagine how cruelly you speak to yourself.” Whoa, what a poignant way to think of things Ariel.
“Stop the hate. Accept all that you are and know your flaws are what make you the PERFECT you. I love my fans and I love my bullies for what they truly NEED is love. Take the high road, there is less traffic. XO.” I love my bullies? Ariel, that is SERIOUSLY taking the high road and we applaud your ability to rise above the hate. Not steeping to a bullies level is a hard thing to do when you’ve dealt with body shaming for the better part of your life, like Ariel has.
In 2015, Ariel had breast reduction surgery, but has still dealt with criticism of her beautiful body and has spoken openly about it. “When I decided to get my breast reduction, I mean, I’m five foot one and I had F cup breasts. So I was in a lot of pain, it was very uncomfortable for me, I didn’t feel confident in myself, and when I decided to get my breast reduction, everybody turned to me and was like, ‘Oh, well you got your breast reduction because everyone was scrutinizing you, and that was it,'” she said on The Talk. We are so proud of you Ariel, and so proud of those of you who choose to love yourself instead of attacking others.
