While it’s a total bummer that Serena Williams didn’t make it into the U.S. Open women’s final, we’ll still be treated to an amazing match between Karolina Pliskova and Angelique Kerber. We’ve got all the details on how to watch the players battle for the grand slam victory via live stream!
This should be an epic match, with second ranked Angelique Kerber, 28, looking to win the final Grand Slam event of 2016 at the U.S. Open, as she goes up against 10th ranked Karolina Pliskova, 24. A victory would give the German tennis sensation her second huge win of the year after taking the Australian Open by storm in January. She made it to the finals at Wimbledon and is looking to end Grand Slam season on top when she goes head to head with Karolina in Flushing Meadows, NY. You won’t want to miss a second of the match, which starts at 4pm EST on Sept. 10. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE U.S. OPEN WOMEN’S FINALS MATCH.
While we’re happy for Karolina’s great play, she knocked out fan favorite and top ranked Serena Williams, 34, on Sept. 8, shocking tennis fans and denying the superstar a chance at a record 23rd Grand Slam win. Not to mention, Serena and Angelique in the finals would have given us yet another amazing Grand Slam matchup, as they met at the Australian Open and Wimbledon finals in 2016, the latter of which gave Serena her 22nd Grand Slam victory, tying the record of legend Steffi Graf, 47.
Without Serena in the finals, demand for tickets has plunged at the event proper. According to data from aggregator TicketIQ, ticket prices for the finals plunged 50 percent following her loss, as everyone wanted to see her get her epic number 23 in Grand Slam titles. Without that, interest among fans in the stands dropped dramatically.
HollywoodLifers, who are you rooting for since Serena is out, Karolina or Angelique?
