Bitter party of one? ‘Bachelor’ hopeful Robby Hayes is hitting out at Nick Viall for snagging the big gig, saying he’s too old to bring the energy needed for the hit ABC dating show. Keep reading for more on his shocking comments.
“I thought (producers) would go with someone younger, someone with a little more energy to bring to the table that frankly hasn’t been around the block a couple times,” Robby Hayes, 27, revealed to Us Weekly. He’s clearly not a fan of the selection of two-time Bachelorette runner-up and Bachelor in Paradise star Nick Viall as the new Bachelor. True, Nick will be one of the oldest Bachelors we’ve seen in a long time, as he’ll be 36 when the show finally airs. But since he’s more mature and has come so close to finding love before, maybe he’ll finally find his princess being the one handing out roses.
So does this mean Robby is going to boycott viewing the show altogether? “I might watch just to see if they bring Josh (Murray) in to steal the show again,” Robby joked about Nick’s Bachelorette nemesis who ended up winning Andi Dorfman‘s heart over him. But he did manage to muster up a few kinds words for Nick. “I wish him the best, I know how I felt going through it, and I hope he finds that love he’s been looking for.”
Robby’s not the only former Bachelorette contestant from Jojo Fletcher’s season to speak out about how they thought the would be up for the role of the next Bachelor. Luke Pell, 32, literally had his bags packed, contract signed and was on his way to the airport to fly to L.A. when producers called him and told him they decided to go wtih Nick instead. Ouch! That to have hurt having all the hopes and dreams of of starring as the next Bachelor dashed. Fellow Jojo contestant Chase McNary, 27, was also in the running only to get passed over for Nick.
