It’s always a fun night when Michael Strahan stops by ‘The Tonight Show,’ and his Sept. 7 appearance was perfection as always. He also went out of his way to gush about his work at ‘Good Morning America,’ which came off as a not so subtle diss as his former ‘Live!’ show cohost Kelly Ripa.
Michael Strahan, 44, is such a pro that he was smart enough to avoid the direct topic of Kelly Ripa, 45,, but he made sure to give super high praise for the job he left her show for, Good Morning America.”It’s electric out there. GMA has been great. It’s earlier, but it’s been great because it’s so interesting. Every job I’ve had I’ve just learned along the way, and this one, it’s so interesting because of all the stories you get involved in. They’re new to me. I’m loving it.” Sounds like he has zero regrets about leaving Live! and is thriving in his new ABC morning show role. Meanwhile Kelly has had the entire summer to find his replacement and still hasn’t been able to come up with a permanent co-host choice.
The NFL Hall of Famer also got a chance to showcase his athletic skills – kind of – in a massive “Back to school” tricycle race with Jimmy. The two donned helmets and backpacks with 20 pounds of books and proceeded to race around the studio and backstage, trying to avoid stacks of lockers, real live kids sitting at desks throwing things at them, and a school marching band!
The bikes were a little bigger so adults could use them, but Michael’s massive size made it a little harder to maneuver properly compared to his more diminutive competitor. But he was dressed a lot more casually than the suit and tie clad Jimmy so that comfort definitely helped his performance capacity. Michael managed to stay in the lead until the final turn back into the studio when Jimmy burst ahead to win the race! Victory!
HollywoodLifers, are you sad that Michael is no longer co-hosting Live! With Kelly? Or do you think she can find a better replacement for him?
