Yeezy is one of the biggest shows of New York Fashion Week, and we’re here to make sure that you don’t miss a moment of Kanye West’s Season 4 collection! The show is broadcasting live from New York City, and you can WATCH right here.
Kanye West, 39, is the mastermind behind Yeezy Season 4, and today, Sept. 7, we finally get to see what he’s been working on. Just like last time, the show is being live streamed from Madison Square Garden at 3pm ET and thanks to TIDAL, you can watch below:
NOTE: You need a TIDAL account to watch the full live stream. Non-members will be able to watch a 1-minute preview.
Kanye stirred up controversy — as Kanye does — when the casting call for Yeezy Season 4 requested that “multiracial women only” try out to have the chance to walk in the show. Fans immediately took to Twitter to express their outrage. “We know ‘multiracial’ in this context means ‘ethnically ambiguous’ & ‘exotic’ regardless of your actual background,” one user tweeted. “If you’re a fan & you can’t recognize when your fave is problematic, thats an issue. Ye’s model casting is that. Let’s not act otherwise,” another agreed.
Still, it’s not an unexpected move from Kanye, who is known for the crazy rules surrounding his shows. No one can forget last season, when models were given a huge list of rules that ordered them not to make eye contact, smile or “make the same movements at the same time”. Oh, Kanye.
The casting call, which was held on Sept. 4, was quite the event. Thousands of people turned up to audition, and one female protester went viral after showing up to the venue with, “They want black features, not black girls” written on her topless torso in black marker. She also held a sign that said, “multiracial = light skin only… you ain’t slick ye”. Clearly, the show must go on, though!
