Abby Elliott has put her ‘SNL’ days behind her! Known for her hilarious impressions, the comedic actress has moved on and she told us ALL about her late night show past! The newly married star even dished to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that her father ‘did not have a good experience’ on the hit show. Get the details here!
The incredibly talented comedic actress, Abby Elliott, 29, became a household name after an impressive four-season stint on SNL from 2008-2012. In an experience she compares to college, she tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that she’s “happy it’s over.” She’s mentioned in the past about how she’s shed tears during her time there, so it made sense that she almost seemed relieved that portion of her life was over. But, who could blame her when she told us, “I was kind of a baby when I started at age 21.”
Although she was young, Abby credited the hit late night show for learning so much. “SNL is kind of like the business condensed into one building, if that makes sense. Obviously it’s an institution. It’s a great breeding ground for talent. I’m really grateful I went through it and I’m really grateful for what I learned, but also very happy that it’s over.” She mentioned that the odd hours didn’t help either. “I really don’t think I can do the late nights anymore, I go to bed pretty early.” We hear you, girl!

She was known for on-point impressions of A-list stars, like Angelina Jolie, 41, Drew Barrymore, 41, and Anna Faris, 39. Abby even told us that Drew witnessed her impression when she was at SNL for a hosting gig. “Luckily she was flattered,” Abby dished, explaining, “You never know.”
It seems like she inherited quite the talent bug. Abby comes from a long line of comedians and actors within her family. Interestingly enough, she is the third generation to be featured on the show, after her father, Chris Elliott, 56, and grandfather, Bob Elliott. She revealed to us that her father, who was a cast member for a year from 1994-1995, “did not have a good experience.” She explained that he was already established when he came to the show, so “it didn’t really make the most sense for him to be there.”
SNL may have helped her comedic knowledge along the way, but Abby can’t be defined just by one job. Now, she stars on Bravo’s hit show, Odd Mom Out, where she has worked with iconic actresses and funny women including Molly Ringwald, 48! The show just had it’s season finale at the end of August, and she (and basically the rest of the world) are hoping for a third season! “The finale left us with sort of a cliffhanger…Fingers crossed for season 3 because I would love to see what happens after the season 2 finale,” she said. As for what she’d like to see happen if the show gets another season? — “I would like to see Brooke deal with Mel being remarried, and I would like to see if Lex has changed at all.” We couldn’t have said it any better! While we hope for a third season, you can also check out Abby in the upcoming comedy Better Off Single with Lauren Miller, Aaron Tveit and Kal Penn. It’s set to premiere in October 2016, and we can’t wait!
Aside from her crazy acting schedule, Abby has teamed up with Maytag to raise awareness for “No Smear Campaign.” Maytag launched a Google Chrome plug-in August 25, that actually blocks negative, smearing content on Facebook and Twitter and replaces it with humorous, lighthearted content. Not to mention, “it’s great because it doesn’t completely hide what your friends are saying, it just hides if they’re saying something negative,” Abby told us. How do they do it? “Maytag works with political scientists to identify the smear words and coincidentally they’re also coming out with a line of no smear stainless appliances. They’re preventing smears on Facebook and in the kitchen,” she joked. LOL!
The comedian says she was inspired to team up with Maytag because of the election buzz being at an all-time high on the internet. However, she’s not against any healthy chatter of the politics talk, but she says, “I found myself really put off by the stuff that people were saying and this election is obviously really crazy and things can escalate and get heated very quickly. This campaign really spoke to me.” Anyone who’s interested in “No Smear Campaign” can head over to Maytag’s official website, where the Chrome plug-in can easily be downloaded!
