Here we go again! Serena Williams, 34, takes on Yaroslava Shvedova, 28, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Sept. 5 from 11am in the game of the day at the US Open. Will Serena go all the way? Watch the live stream with us to find out!
It’s time for Serena to eliminate the memories of crashing out of the Olympics and reign supreme again, and she’s been playing tennis in the early rounds of the US Open like an absolute demon! It’s gotta be her year again.
In her last match-up, Serena disposed of Johanna Larsson with consummate ease, in a 6-2, 6-1 victory. She looked immense, her serve was unstoppable and her cross-court game was the best we’ve ever seen it. It’s easy to see why on this form she’s already been declared the favorite by the bookmakers in Vegas.
But Yaroslava shouldn’t be taken for granted. The Russian-born Kazakhstani tennis player has looked in good shape herself, and is yet to drop a set in her first three matches of the tournament. Thee current world number 52 might be more recognized in the doubles game, but she still can shock the best players and playing as she is will pose a great threat to Serena.
We envisage Serena being pushed all the way in this one, and it wouldn’t be inconceivable if this one goes to three sets. However, if it does, Serena’s power and stamina in a third set could definitely be the deciding factor. You can really argue the case now that she’s the greatest female tennis player to ever play the game.
HollywoodLifers, can Selena go all the way? Will she win the US Open? Tell us below if she think she can erase her Olympics disaster!
