When you’re two of the biggest names in hip-hop, you need a cool tattoo, something sleek and edgy. But why did Rihanna and Drake get matching shark tattoos to symbolize their devotion? HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE details right here!
Well, it all started when Drake, 29, took Riri, 28, to Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto back in early August. In fact, the “Hotline Bling” singer rented out the entire place after hours and set up a dinner right in front of one of the fish tanks! Swoon!
And it was there that the shark-tattoo idea was born. “When they were at the aquarium, a shark swam up and got eye to eye with them-long enough for them to take pictures,” a source close to the power couple dishes. “It was a really special moment because it seemed like the shark was as interested in them as they were it him! It’s a memory they always reference, so it seemed fitting.”
Over the last few weeks, Drake and Riri have continued to nurture their epic bond, so the next logical step was… matching tattoos! I mean, that’s their obvious next step, right?
Rihanna went first, having her tattoo artist Bang Bang paint a camouflage shark across her delicate ankle after Drake’s concert in Miami on Aug. 31! It was a landmark night for the couple because she finally gave in and kissed him right on the stage! And on the lips too!
Next Drizzy immortalized his love by inking a matching shark tat on his arm. Fans spotted it while he performed in New Orleans on Sept. 3 and went B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think? Are matching tattoos a sign that these two lovebirds are headed straight for the altar, or is it just “what you do” when you’re a famous couple?
