Queen Bey is singing in the new year. Well, her new year. Beyoncé has celebrated her 35th birthday by releasing the video for ‘Hold Up,’ off her visual album ‘Lemonade,’ for free on YouTube. Check out the video, previously only available on Tidal, right here!
The now 35-year-old Beyoncé is being totally gracious to those of us loyal servants of the queen by gifting us with her standalone video, “Hold Up,” off of the visual album Lemonade for free! On Sept. 4 the official video, previously only available to Tidal subscribers, was posted to YouTube. We’re not worthy, Bey! But, hey, we’ll take what we can get, of course. And how fun to be part of the queen’s B-day in some way.
The original footage premiered on HBO in April, but not everyone has been lucky enough to see it yet if they didn’t have a subscription. It begins with everyone’s favorite human floating in an underwater room, while reciting poetry. The clip got a TON of attention because of the lyrics, which definitely touched on themes of infidelity and unfaithfulness.
“Can’t you see there’s no other man above you?/What a wicked way to treat the girl that loves you,” Bey sings before smashing up some car windows with a baseball bat. No matter who did what, in the end, we know she clearly wasn’t happy about something!
We don’t know about you all, but over here, we’re pretty excited about another year of Beyoncé on the earth. We’re hoping to see more fun ways the singer celebrates her big day today. Will Jay Z surprise us all with a track for his wife? Will Blue Ivy dress up with Bey in one of their adorable matching mother-daughter outfits? Will Bey herself drop a new song? We can’t wait to find out!
