Izzy Goodkind’s split from Vinny Ventiera was one of the most shocking in ‘Bachelor In Paradise’ history — and she’s still reeling from it. She stopped in to the HollywoodLife podcast to break down what tore them apart, and admits she wishes that he never left.
On her and Vinny as a couple on Bachelor in Paradise
We were definitely a night-one couple. It had been a few weeks, which in real life, isn’t really that long for a relationship. You really need, especially dating in NY and being 25, you want to have a foundation. And I felt that we had an immediate connection, physical attraction to each other, but we hadn’t really gotten into deeper conversations for a solid relationship.
On dating on the show
It’s very fast paced, you’re in this small bubble. You can’t share things with your parents as you would, [or] with your friends. It’s a small, small bubble. It’s very, very intense, it’s very fast paced. You’re basically living with this person when in real life, you would go on a few dates every three nights or so. You wouldn’t see that person all the time.
On not having normal personal conversations
I’m a more private person and have things with my family or growing up that I didn’t think were appropriate to talk about for the world to know, because who knows what they’re going to air. I just didn’t feel like it was something I wanted to share with the world. You never ever saw any of us have real conversations… One thing I was disappointed in [when] watching the season back, was that I’m a very goofy and silly person and Vinny is as well, and they didn’t show that part of our relationship. So people called us boring and I think we by far were the least boring couple there. So they didn’t show much of that side of us.
On the break up
There were scenes that weren’t shown of Vinny and I having conversations about the future. We weren’t necessarily ready for an engagement if we had made it to the end, so that was a little misconstrued. But there were certain things that I didn’t get to talk to him about; like the solid foundation questions of a relationship, we just didn’t address them. I was starting to have doubts and insecurities. And then when Brett walked in, who is someone who is my physical type, without even knowing who he was, it made my stomach flip. I was like if I’m looking in someone’s direction, as I’m sure a lot of people do, it made me question those doubts and insecurities that I was having with Vinny. I can’t lie to him, I had to be honest. And like I said on the live show, I should have addressed it with Vinny first, and not gone and talked to Brett first, but I don’t regret being honest. I was honest with him and myself. I wish looking back that I could’ve handled it differently. I know that it wasn’t in the best way.
On Vinny leaving
There hadn’t been one guy prior to that who had walked in and caught my eye like Brett did. We hadn’t spoken but he knew I was with Vinny, so he asked Caila on the date. Caila, who was with Jared in a serious relationship, who decided to go on the date. She was probably feeling the exact same way I was — ‘Why not, you’re in paradise, [so] see if something is there. If it’s not, come back.’ And that’s where I wish Vinny did stay; I would’ve fully realized that maybe there is something there with him. But he hated me, he was so heartbroken.
On her relationship with Vinny now
I was sleeping on his lap on the plane. He had a gig in AC, so he flew to NYC and I live here, it was just convenient. It wasn’t a surprise. It wasn’t a shock. We had planned to travel back together. We definitely created an unbelievable friendship there in this situation that not many people get to experience. We definitely have a close relationship. So we’re friends.
