Finally — Instagram has zoom! The app rolled out the long demanded feature on Aug. 31, allowing users to get a closer look at their favorite pics. While that’s amazing, fans were more excited that they finally show off all their photos to their parents! Click to see.
“Starting [on Aug. 31], you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore,” Instagram said when rolling out the new feature. Right now, it’s only available to iOS users, though Instagram said that the feature is coming to Android in the coming weeks.
Though, the Zoom feature is not so much a pinch, but a pull. To get a better look at a pic, users have to first press on the area of the photo/video they want to focus on, before separating their fingers to trigger the zoom. The photo won’t stay zoomed in – letting go returns the picture to normal size, per Adweek.
This is pretty incredible because Instagram users see Zoom as the answer for all their prayers. For far too long, technology-challenged parents have not been the most “Gram-friendly.” Moms, so eager to gaze upon their daughters’ pics from Coachella, have accidentally like the snaps. Awkward! Plus, Dads have struggled to keep up with all the IG happenings from their kids and more tech-savvy friends. It seems that this feature will solve so many problems!
PSA FOR PARENTS EVERYWHERE!!

This is the latest major change to hit the gram. Early in Aug. 2016, the app rolled out Instagram Stories, which are just like Snapchat: post pictures and videos in a stream that will expire after 24 hours. Users can also draw and write on their pictures. Neat!
Plus, great news for Justin Bieber, 22, following his IG drama over Sofia Richie, 18 — Instagram now allows people to filter and moderate their accounts. Users can also be able to delete comments that contain words they find personally offensive. Stories, doodling, moderation and now Zoom? Your turn, Snapchat.
What do you think about Instagram’s new Zoom feature, HollywoodLifers? Are your parents thrilled?
