She was on My Super Sweet Sixteen

And lived to tell the tale! Teyana was just 16 when she got her big break as the birthday girl of the week on the MTV reality show. And now, nearly 10 years later, she’s got a massive music career on her hands!

She released her first mixtape in 2008

When Teyana was just 18, she released her first mixtape, Google Me to much acclaim. The lead single from the mixtape, “From A Planet Called Harlem,” made her a star. Her second mixtape, “The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor”, was released in 2012. From there, her music career has only grown.

She was signed by Kanye West to his GOOD Music label in 2012

“Fade” is far from her first meeting with Kanye. She provided vocals for his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and impressed him so much that he signed her to his label; she was signed to The Island Def Jam Group, as well. She was featured on the GOOD mixtapes Cruel Summer and Cruel Winter.

Her album is called VII

Teyana released her debut album in 2014, called VII. The album debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200. She’s also collaborated with a slate of amazing artists like John LegendCyhi the PrynceMalik Yusef and Travis Scott. She’s working on a second studio album at the moment.

She’s engaged to Iman Shumpert

Teyana is engaged to Cleveland Cavaliers star Iman Shumpert. She gave birth to their son, Iman Tayla Shumpert, Jr. in December 2015 in a tense emergency labor. Teyana went into early labor, and the baby came so quickly that Iman delivered him at home with his bare hands!
