Rihanna ensured all eyes were on her as she performed not once but FOUR times at the 2016 MTV VMAs in New York City on August 28. Get the details on her hair and makeup looks below!
Rihanna looked absolutely stunning on stage. In addition to her four stellar performances, the singer accepted the 2016 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the so-called lifetime achievement award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees gave Rihanna a gorgeous nail look for her performances! RiRi rocked Red Carpet Manicure’s One Step Gel in Hopeless Romantic, a stunning pink color.
Kimmie told HollywoodLife.com: “Rihanna will be on stage multiple times during this year’s VMAs. We wanted to find a color that would match any outfit and makeup changes she may have throughout the show — so we chose a beautiful mauve color with a subtle shimmer that looks gorgeous against her skin tone.”
Her multiple hairstyles were done by Yusef. For her first hair look, a sexy ponytail, Yusef said: “I first blew the hair dry with the ghd Air Hairdryer. I then straightened the hair with the ghd Platinum Styler and used MOP Mixed Greens Leave-In Conditioner to add smoothness so when I pulled it into that high ponytail it would be sleek and sexy. Once it was up, I sprayed the hair with MOP C-System Firm Finish Hair Spray and went over it the ghd Curve Classic Wave Wand to add a bit of wave and extra volume to it, and also to seal the hair and reduce flyaways. To finish, we sprayed MOP C-System Firm Finish Hair Spray ($24) again to give the hair extra hold and luster.”
For her sleek and sexy look during her last performance, Yusef said: “For the last look, I re-wet her hair and blew it dry again using the ghd Air Hairdryer, brushing it back from her face with the ghd Natural Bristle Radial Brush. Once it was dry, I applied MOP Mixed Greens Leave-In Conditioner to smooth the edges and add softness. Then I used the ghd Platinum Styler to lock in shine and make it even straighter and smoother. After that, I tamed flyaways and tucked the hair behind the ears withMOP Orange Peel Molding Cream. To finish the look and hold it in place, I used bobby pins before adding MOPC-System Firm Finish Hair Spray to make the finished look a bit more glossy.”
