In an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife.com, Steven Avery’s mom, Dolores, shared how he is doing in prison after his nephew, Brendan Dassey, had his conviction overturned.
It has been more than a rough time for the Avery family since Steven, 54, was convicted of murdering freelance photographer Teresa Halbach in his 2007 trial. However the family has remained hopeful and diligent in fighting to prove Steven’s innocence and have his conviction overturned, which recently just happened to his nephew and alleged co-conspirator, Brendan Dassey, 26. Steven’s mom, Dolores, chatted EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife.com about how Steven is holding up behind bars after his nephew was granted a chance to be freed from prison.
“He is doing alright,” Dolores told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, regarding her son Steven’s imprisonment. Sadly, Dolores also revealed that she hasn’t “heard anything” regarding the possibility of Steven being released.
As our interview continued, HollywoodLife.com asked Dolores about her grandson Brendan’s release, but unfortunately she didn’t seem to know much about what was going on. “I don’t know nothing about Brendan’s release, I don’t know,” Dolores told us during our interview. “That you have to ask his mother.”
For those of you missed the exciting news, the conviction Brendan received when he was just 17 years old after being accused of helping his uncle allegedly murder Teresa was overturned in August 2016. A federal judge finally ruled that Brendan’s “confession” was obtained by “unconstitutional coercion.” As of the date this article was printed, Brendan was still in prison awaiting release based on whether or not the state would appeal and try to charge the young man once again.
