Harry Styles is officially a solo songwriter! Michael Buble revealed in a new interview that Harry penned a song for the crooner’s upcoming album, and it’s one ‘mind-blowing’ tune. Get the deets from Michael right here!
“For the first time ever I’ve recorded an original [song] that I didn’t write. It’s written by Meghan Trainor and Harry Styles,” Michael, 40, told ET Canada. “I know that sounds mind-blowing to people, but they’re talented; they wrote a song that I fell in love with, and that was it. I was going to set my ego aside and I was going to do what’s best for the record.”
OMG, wait a minute. This is the song that Harry, 22, wrote with Meghan Trainor — we’re finally going to hear it! Meghan teased the co-written duet last year, and One Direction fans were totally pumped to hear Harry and Meghan sing together. But it sounds like we’re going to be hearing Michael sing it instead!
In fact, the song is actually now a duet between Michael and Meghan rather than Harry and Meghan. When Meghan was first talking about the song she and Harry co-wrote, she said it was called “Someday Maybe,” but according to Michael’s track list for his upcoming album Nothing But Me (out Oct. 21), the song’s title has been shortened to “Someday.” Hey, if Harry was involved, we have no doubt that it’s a great song no matter what it’s called or who’s singing it!
“Someday” isn’t the only non-One Direction song Harry has penned, either. Even before the group went on their hiatus in March, Harry had reportedly already been credited with writing four other songs on his own. Considering he has a three-album, $80 million solo contract nailed down, it seems we’ll be seeing a lot more Harry-written songs in the relatively near future — but next time we hear one, it’ll hopefully be Harry singing it!
