This is TOO funny! Stephen Colbert opened ‘The Late Show’ with his own version of Ryan Lochte’s latest tell-all interview — and needless to say, it didn’t go very well. Click inside to WATCH!
Intoxicated much? The Late Show host Stephen Colbert opened his Monday, August 22 episode with a parody of Ryan Lochte‘s sit down interview with Matt Lauer. In the mock version of the interview, Stephen, 52, grills Ryan, 32, on what the Olympic swimmer calls his “over-exaggeration” of what really happened to him and three other swimmers in Rio, Brazil.
First Stephen mocks Ryan for saying he is trying to “lay low” amidst all of the drama he caused, reminding him that going on television isn’t exactly keeping a low profile. Touché! Then Stephen continues to dig into Ryan about how he got the robbery story so wrong not once but multiple times, to which clips of Ryan explaining that he was “intoxicated” repeatedly play. Yikes!
Of course Ryan did not sit down to be interviewed by Stephen and instead footage from the swimmer’s Today Show interview were used for the sketch, but that doesn’t make it any less hilarious. The funniest part? When Stephen asks Ryan what we can expect from the swimmer if he’s given a second chance to compete in Japan in 2020, to which another clip of Ryan saying “intoxicated” is used as the response. Ha, let’s hope that’s definitely not what goes down!
