OMG! We are still trying to process Frank Ocean’s visual album release, and now the singer dropped a music video for his single, ‘Nikes’ on Aug. 20! Catch every second of the video here!
Frank Ocean, 28, is full of surprises! The Channel Orange singer debuted a new music video for “Nikes,” courtesy of Apple Music, and to say the least, it’s a amazing!
The chilling videos begins with the line, “I got two versions,” which was first mentioned in a post Frank shared on Tumblr in Apr. 2016. The video then cuts to a series of takes depicting a wild night out, a lot of nudity, and a scary visual of a demon in a musical theatre.
The lyrics, on the other hand, sing of a different story. On the single, Frank pays homage to many public figures who have died in the recent year, including California rapper, Pimp C, and Trayvon Martin, the young boy who was fatally shot in Florida in Feb. 2012. A$AP Rocky, 27, also makes a cameo holding up a pic of his friend, A$AP Yams who died in Jan. 2015.
As the video progresses, visuals of a naked woman riding a horse and a man on fire flash on the screen, while Frank sings of unrequited love. “We’re not in love / But I make love to you / When you’re not here / I save some for you / I’m not him, but I mean something to you,” he sings. And as the video ends, Frank seems to be sporting an outfit that looks similar to Kanye West’s Balmain ensemble at the 2016 Met Gala! Amazing!
The “Nikes” videos is following Frank’s surprise visual album, Endless, which he released on Aug. 19, in the wee hours of the night. Both the visual album and the new music video are making fans believe Frank’s sophomore album, Boys Don’t Cry is almost here! For the past year, Frank has teased fans with a follow up to his highly acclaimed debut album, Channel Orange. And after a lot of start and stops, it seems like the end is really near this time. Keep your fingers crossed!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Frank’s new music video for “Nikes?” Is it a hit or miss?
