Turning tragedy into triumph, Amber Heard is speaking out for violence against women! By donating the ENTIRE seven million she received from ex-husband Johnny Depp in their divorce settlement, Amber hopes to make a difference in her charity work.
Amber Heard, 30, has been fighting tooth and nail to reach a divorce settlement, since splitting with Johnny Depp, 53. Her original asking price was WAY higher than seven million, and now we know why — her intention all along was to donate that money to women’s charities. “The donation will be divided equally between the ACLU, with a particular focus to stop violence against women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where I have worked as a volunteer for the past 10 years,” she told TMZ.
In their joint statement, Amber repeated that the issue of money was not a personal matter, reading, “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains,” which is interesting since it suggests that false accusations were being thrown around. Their statement then transitions into Amber’s domestic violence accusations, which were publicly brought to light in June when the actress released photos of herself with bruised eyes. But in secret, Amber had been dealing with Johnny’s raging temper since 2014. Text messages between Amber and Johnny’s assistant, Stephen Deuters, were also discovered, describing the Black Mass actor’s “disgusting” behavior. Still, only one year later, the former couple married on a private island in the Bahamas.
“Money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” Amber continues. “Hopefully this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.” So far, Johnny has remained mum about Amber’s charitable decision, and after the hell they’ve put each other through, it would be nice if they each took a step back and gave each other some space.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Amber and Johnny will ever speak again now that their divorce is settled?
