Will Smith has given a shocking interview, revealing that he and his wife Jada attended marriage counselling as part of an intense fight to save their relationship! Find out how therapy helped the couple, whose love was incredibly strained after they’d been together for almost two decades.
Will Smith, 47, and Jada Pinkett Smith, 44, were about to hit their breaking point, Will told The Sun in an Aug. 16 interview. “I’ve done a lot of marriage counselling. What happens in a marriage once you do counselling [is that] the truth comes out,” Will revealed. “And you sit across from your wife and you’ve said all of your truth and she has said all of her truth. You look at each other and you can’t imagine you could ever possibly love each other again now the truth is out. It creates a dark moment, but for me, it’s the dark before the dawn.” Wow!
The Suicide Squad actor added that he owes it all to therapy that he and Jada were able to move forward. “When the truth comes out and people have to say who they are and what they think, you get to know who they are. I think that’s the cleansing before you get to the other side that is understanding and moving forward in our relationship,” he explained. That’s a pretty wise perspective on things!
Jada and Will have publicly faced marriage issues in the past, so we have to say we’re not totally surprised that the couple has attended joint therapy. We previously told you EXCLUSIVELY that “like any married couple that’s married a long time, Will and Jada have their moments where things aren’t always great”, but it sounds like they’re working through it.
