This is so scary. There have been reports of shots fired at Terminal 8 of JFK Airport in New York in the late hours of Aug. 14. So far there are no deaths in this reported shooting, but read on for the details that have been released.
The Fire Deparment of New York reported a call that came in at 9:38 p.m. ET, and the New York Police Department also receiving multiple calls about the shots fired, according to CBS2. Following the reports, travelers began filing out of the airport in a frenzy. One passenger at JFK even tweeted a picture of the chaos, mentioning that the potential shooting had resulted in a shut down of the security checkpoints:

Although police did reportedly not hear any gunshots, witnesses are saying that they heard two in Terminal 8, which has resulted in an evacuation of the area. Some flights headed to the airport were diverted, as one airline passenger tweeted that his flight was redirected to Buffalo. Streets around the airport have also been temporarily closed due to the incident.
As of 10:00 pm ET, there’s still no confirmation of a shooter or any reported injuries, and authorities have yet to find any true evidence that a shooting occurred. But this incident is certainly a terrifying one in light of the tragedies that have happened in Dallas, Istanbul, and Brussels in recent months.
