Nothing like a potential lawsuit to ‘Spice Up Your Life!’ When news broke that three of the Spice Girls were planning a reunion without Mel C and Victoria Beckham, Sporty Spice completely FLIPPED her lid and is now threatening to sue her former BFFs!
Whatever happened to Girl Power?! With the best of intentions, Spice Girls members Emma Bunton, 40, Geri Halliwell, 44, and Mel B, 41, announced that they were organizing a three-piece reunion special to mark the band’s 20th anniversary — but someone decided to rain on their parade! After Mel C, 42, initially DECLINED her invitation to participate in the reunion last month, she expected the whole project to shut down. Apparently she’s furious that Geri, Emma, and Mel B are still going through with it, and as a result, Mel C has reached out to her attorney to put a stop to the reconciliation, according to The Sun. Victoria Beckham, 42, AKA Posh Spice, also declined to partake, but she’s not causing a ruckus!
“Mel has told the other girls she is consulting lawyers about whether the reunion can go ahead without her,” a source told the British tabloid. “She believes she brought music credibility to the group and there is no Spice Girls without her.” Sounds like Mel C has a serious case of FOMO — fear of missing out! Taking extra precaution, Geri, Emma, and Mel adopted the code name GEM to avoid a potential lawsuit, but ultimately decided against it because the name doesn’t have much branding power. Everyone knows the Spice Girls, and no one’s ever heard of GEM. However, business is business, and even though Mel C has been in contact with her law team, reports say she and the girls are friendly and on good terms.
This isn’t the first time there’s been drama amongst the five “Wannabe” singers. Since the girls went their separate ways in 2000, there’s been a few instances of trash-talking, mostly between Victoria and Mel B, and now, 16 years later, Mel C is threatening to sue! Yikes! It goes without saying that fans want a reunion, but not at the expense of the girls’ friendship.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Mel C is overreacting by getting her lawyers involved?
