There’s a whole new generation of Insta stars quickly rising in the social media ranks — kids! And speaking to us EXCLUSIVELY, IG’s brightest and youngest celebs — including Gavin Duh & Txunamy — shared their tips on how YOU can launch your kid into Instagram stardom!
While we all know the street-style stars, bloggers, and Kardashians who rule Instagram, Instafamous kids are making a HUGE splash right now, accumulating hundreds of thousands of followers, making serious bank, and becoming tiny celebs in their own right. But just how did these little fashionistas become so popular?
HollywoodLife.com spoke with a few of the app’s top kid users — and their moms of course — who gave us some EXCLUSIVE tips on how they were able to gain such an insane following! Trust us, these are the mini style stars to put on your radar. Check out their best advice below:
1. Let your kid be themselves
This is a big one! If your kids aren’t having fun, it’s not worth it and that’ll most definitely show through in their pics. “Just be yourself, and post what your kids love to do best!” Priscilla Reyes, Gavin, of Gavin Duh‘s mom told us. And Michelle Foley, Ava of Forever and Forava‘s mom said the exact same thing! “The best advice we could give is to make sure your kids always have fun taking pictures and commit to posting daily!” she said.

2. Don’t be afraid to reach out to brands and collaborate
Michelle also revealed that working with companies is definitely a smart move — and it’s not too hard to get started. Sometimes all it takes is a hashtag! “Collaborating with shops and entering their brand rep searches is critical because not only do you get free clothes, but you have the possibility of being featured on that shops page and exposed to their followers,” she said.
“We initially got noticed because @Kardashiankids posted a picture on their page of Txunamy wearing their clothing which had more than 1M followers. I believe they gave us our first feature,” Stella Ortiz, mom of 7-year-old Txunamy revealed. “We literally were featured the same day we opened our account and got more than 10K followers the first week.”
3. Focus on photography
Don’t forget about photo quality, and take time to frame, light, and edit your images. BUT the good news is, you don’t have to be a professional photographer — and filters are’t always required. “We don’t necessarily use filters for our photos we just focus on the lighting by choosing great places to photograph the girls,” Everleigh, the other half of Forever and Forava’s mom, Savannah Soutas, said.
“Filters can help especially if the lighting is bad. I’m not a photographer and only use my iPhone for photos,” Dana Bennett, mom to Stella and Blaise of Stellaandblaise told us. “The filters can create cool effects to brighten colors or showcase their curls. I like to use Clarendon and Lark if I need a filter.”

4. Follow your kid’s passions
“Have fun and let your children’s personality shine through the photos,” Dana added. And one MAJOR thing all of these kids have in common? They absolutely love what they do! “I absolutely LOVE what I do because it gives me the opportunity to express myself without even having to speak,” Txunamy told us herself. “My outfits and looks speak for themselves. I wouldn’t want to do anything else, or have it any other way.”
And these kids certainly had a passion that started from a super young age! “Gavin has always been into fashion, since he was 3 years old he loved wearing what he calls FANCY CLOTHES,” Priscilla said. “Since I love photography, I just started shooting him with all his little outfits.”
5. Be consistent
Consistency is key! And Ava’s mom, Michelle, said it best: “Something we think is super important is consistently posting on social media. We need to post daily because followers come back and want to see something new fairly often! We always get questions about how we get the girls to smile and post so frequently, and that’s purely because the girls want to pose for the pictures. They love it!” Aw!
6. Highlight your child’s uniqueness
Don’t shy away from what makes your child stand out — that will help them connect with their audience and form a genuine bond with their fans. “I think what makes me unique is that I try to always stick to my style, I don’t copy anyone or try to do what someone else did just because their outfit was amazing,” Txunamy said. “I like to stand out by bringing the latest trends to my followers — from different purses/to glasses/unique hair styles to different clothing pieces. Always staying true to your style & yourself. Being original is the ‘Key.’
“I believe they have a lot of followers because of their unique curls that are naturally blonde,” Dana revealed of her kids’ key to success. “The number one question asked on my IG page are ‘Do you bleach their hair. Is it natural?’ It creates a lot of interest and it has brought awareness that black people can have natural blonde curls.”
Pretty sound advice, right? And these moms/kids would know! After all, all of these Instafamous children are Zulily Kid Creative Directors for back to school — SO cool! And for those of you who don’t know, Zulily is an online retailer obsessed with bringing moms special finds every day — all at incredible prices!
