Everybody in the pool! Michael Phelps will compete for the 200m butterfly gold medal on Aug. 9, while Katie Ledecky will try and swim her way to glory in the 200m freestyle. It’s about to get wet and wild and HollywoodLife.com wants you to see it all!
There might be some gold in the red, white and blue, as two of the best swimmers in America (and the world) may just take the top prize on Aug. 9. Katie Ledecky, 19, might add to her growing collection of Olympic medals as she swims in the final of the women’s 200m freestyle race.
She has a ways to go before her medal count matches that of Michael Phelps, 31, who looks to add another bit of bling around his neck when he dives into the 200m butterfly event. Coverage kicks off at 12:00 PM ET so be ready to watch.

Along with those two events, medals will be awarded in the women’s 200m individual medley and the Men’s 4x200m freestyle relay. Non-medal swim competitions include the men’s 100m freestyle, the women 200m butterfly and the men’s 200m breaststroke (with semis behind held later in the day.)
Katie managed to get through the semis, where she faced her 200m freestyle rival, Sarah Sjostrom. Katie and Sarah have traded the world’s No. 1 ranking, according to NBC Sports. Katie scored a victory at an Austin, Texas grand prix before Sarah stole back the top ranking at the Swedish championships.
AS for Michael, winning the 200m butterfly gold medal might be the biggest win at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Though he won 19 gold medals, knowing how close he came to winning another at the London 2012 games must still sting. He was less than 0.05 seconds away from South African Chad le Clos, 24, who snatched the gold away from the “Flying Fish.” Will Michael avenge his loss or will this be another case of “history repeating?”
Who do you want to win, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Michael will win another gold medal? Do think Katie will leave the rest of the competition floundering like a fish out of water?
