George R.R. Martin isn’t done with TV whatsoever. The ‘Game of Thrones’ author has plans for yet another epic TV project. Does this mean more ‘Game of Thrones’ is on the way?! Here is what’s going on…
Sadly, George doesn’t have plans for more Game of Thrones, but his Wild Cards anthologies are on their way to a TV screen near you. He announced the big news about Wild Cards on Aug. 6.
“The shared world of the Wild Cards diverged from our own on September 15, 1946 when an alien virus was released in the skies over Manhattan, and spread across an unsuspecting Earth,” he wrote on his LiveJournal. “Of those infected, 90 percent died horribly, drawing the black queen, 9 percent were twisted and deformed into jokers, while a lucky 1 percent became blessed with extraordinary and unpredictable powers and became aces. The world was never the same.”
George goes on to say that the Wild Cards universe could rival the worlds of Marvel and DC Comics. He believes the Wild Cards universe is as “large and diverse and exciting as the comic book universes of Marvel and DC (though somewhat grittier, and considerably more realistic and more consistent), with an enormous cast of characters both major and minor. There are thousands of stories to be told in the world of the Wild Cards.”
Well, this is exciting! Game of Thrones, based on George’s A Song of Ice & Fire series, will officially be ending after season 8. The show has racked up countless awards over the years and remains one of TV’s best shows. If George is involved, you know that Wild Cards is going to be just as epic.
HollywoodLifers, are you excited to see Wild Cards on TV? Do you think it will be better than Game of Thrones? Let us know!
