Could you imagine how ‘Seinfeld’s Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer would have reacted to the tragic 9/11 attacks? Well, now you don’t have to. Sure, the show ended years before the disaster hit the Big Apple, but comedian Billy Domineau wrote a spec script, imagining such a scenario. And now, it’s gone viral!
The Seinfeld script, titled “The Twin Towers,” is currently circulating online, and it’s getting great reviews from people in the comedy community. The story, which was shared by Entertainment Weekly, follow Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards) as they make the national tragedy all about themselves, which is definitely something they would have done. Yes, it sounds like a dark storyline, but the result is pretty genius. For instance, George attempts to congratulate a fireman, but just ends up offending him. Elaine is happy to hear that a date she was planning to break up with was in the Twin Towers during the attack. And Kramer wonders if one of his neighbors was the terrorist leader, according to EW. To find out what Jerry’s storyline entails, you must read the script which can be found BELOW.
The story also includes a bevy of other notable characters, like Newman, George’s parents, Uncle Leo, Jackie Chiles, Mr. Wilhelm, and George Steinbrenner.
Billy Domineau told The Comic’s Comic that he came up with the idea when he “was helping someone write a sketch a few months back and told them theirs needed to be an exercise in bad taste, ‘Like imagine if there was a 9/11 episode of Seinfeld…wait a minute.” If only we could come up with something so spectacular oh so easily…
