Katy Perry Stuns With Messy Fishnet Braids & Smokey Makeup In ‘Rise’ Video

Katy Perry, 31, was absolutely stunning in her empowering new music video, donning a rough and rugged look with a glamorous edge. The singer wore her raven colored locks down, with tangled fishnet braids featuring silver chain hoops. She opted for a smokey eye, with dark brown matte hues and thick black eyeliner. She perfectly off-set her bold brows by wearing a light coral rouge and soft pink lipstick. We couldn’t help but also notice her seamless foundation, despite having a few scratches achieved by makeup.

Ahead of the release, Katy’s hairstylist Chris Appleton shared the teaser for “Rise” and an up close pic of Katy showing off his work. He styled Katy’s hair in a messy, tousled look that could endure the elements as she roughed it in the desert and underwater. The “pierced” hair style, created by adding hoops, is one Chris has chosen for several of his celebrity clients (most recently Shay Mitchell at the Teen Choice Awards), and totally gave an edgy finish to Katy’s “Rise” look.

For her makeup, Todd Delano gave the CoverGirl spokesmodel an equally fierce look with kohl-rimmed eyes and pigmented shadows. If you can’t get enough of “Rise,” you’re in luck because the song has been everywhere recently and will be sticking around for quite a bit. Before the official video debut, Katy sang her empowering song at Hillary Clinton‘s request at the DNC, and it will serve as NBC’s theme song during their coverage of the Rio Olympics.
