‘Suicide Squad’ fans are mad as hell, and they’re not taking it anymore! harley and Joker stans are taking their fury to the top, trying to shut down movie review site Rotten Tomatoes for what they feel are biased negative submissions from film critics. See their crazy petition after the jump!
Plenty of film critics didn’t like Suicide Squad, the new DC action film the centers upon the villains from the comic books. The film follows iconic Batman villains like the Joker (Jared Leto) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) as the cause madness and mayhem in Gotham city, and taunt the Dark Knight (Ben Affleck) in the process.
Diehard DC fans loved the film, and have been looking forward to it for months. When they saw that it was getting some brutally honest, terrible reviews, they lashed out in a major way — by threatening to shut down the film site Rotten Tomatoes, which gathers reviews from major film critics and assigns movies ratings, via a petition on Change.org!
“We need this site to be shut down because It’s Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews…and that Affects people’s opinion even if it’s a really great movies,” the petition reads.” DC fans have long been upset by the poor ratings the comic verse’s movies have received on the site; Suicide Squad has a 33% based on reviews from 77 critics, scoring an average rating of 5.2/10; Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice scored a meager 27% from 334 critics, averaging 4.9/10.
The fact that Marvel movies consistently review better leaves a bad taste in DC fans mouths. The original Avengers (2012) claimed a Certified Fresh score of 92% from 317 critics, average score of 8/10. The latest Captain America: Civil War came in at 90% from 320 critics.
Here’s the thing; Rotten Tomatoes certainly isn’t forcing anyone to be in Marvel’s pockets. The 10,000 people (as of publication) who have signed the petition may be interested in knowing that Warner Bros., who own and produce DC films, own 30% of Rotten Tomatoes; Marvel owns 0%. For what it’s worth, not everyone hated Suicide Squad! Here at HollywoodLife.com, our film critic thought it was awesome!
