It’s finally here! Lauren Conrad sat down with the producers of the original MTV show, ‘The Hills,’ to relive and reveal some of the biggest secrets from the show, 10 years later. Here’s everything we learned that was quite fascinating.
Lauren also has her framed covers (well, her mom does), just like Heidi and Spencer.
Right in the beginning, Lauren heads back to her family’s home and shows that on the walls of her mother’s house are all her famous magazine covers. How cute! (Yes, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt also have theirs framed but they’re not exactly modeling shoots.)
Kim Kardashian made a cameo, which was cut out.
In a strategically placed cut during the special, Lauren spoke about how some people liked the cameras. Cut to Heidi’s party where she showed off her new fish tank with the jellyfish(!) in it to her new friend Kim Kardashian. Naturally, her step-brother Brody Jenner was there, so it makes sense. But let’s just say — she looks a little different these days.
Let’s point something out – Spencer Pratt told Complex magazine that “Kim was edited out of Hills episodes organizing Heidi’s closet.” At the time, Kim’s rep told ETOnline said she was never going to be on The Hills. Looks like Spencer had that one right!
Jason and Lauren’s break up was much more serious than it looked.
So this was one of the most shocking and heartbreaking parts of the series. Remember when Lauren dropped off Jason’s clubs on the side of the street? Well apparently the show was on a few week break from filming, and during that, they broke up — she gave him three days to get his stuff out and she was changing the locks. When she saw him on the side of the road, that was the first time since the split. However, although it was 10AM, what made her so upset was that she could “see he wasn’t sober.” The special shows more of their scene where she’s questioning his sobriety. “I think that just really broke me, because I felt a responsibility to take care of him. I felt like when we broke up, I was abandoning him. There was a lot of nights, I was getting 2AM calls and I had to go pick him up, passed out in the back of the club, soI was like, ‘Who’s doing that now? I know he doesn’t have friends that are doing it.'” Also, her parents through a party when they finally split up.
What started the Audrina/Lauren fight that led to that tear?
When Lauren and Audrina weren’t getting along, at one point, she left something outside her house so Lauren went to bring it in — and her door was locked. Audrina had actually installed a lock on the door, which made her realize how serious it was.
Lauren and Brody had no real chemistry.
While she admitted she had a crush on Brody, there was no chemistry and their whole romance was forced. When they were on a patio together kissing, she was literally begging producers for it to be over because she felt so awkward! “We knew the cameras were making it look like more than it was,” she said. The same was true in Paris when she met that stranger on a motorcycle. She told producers she didn’t want to kiss him and they said okay — and then told him to kiss her! (Very UnREAL of them!)
LC’s husband, William, has never seen the show.
When they were traveling once, he was flipping through the channels and saw an episode when Brody invited her to go to Roosevelt Pool. “I’m there every Sunday,” she answered in the clip. “William was like, ‘Nope,’ and changed the channel. [He said,] ‘Don’t want to know that you!'” He also does not like being on camera.
Lauren doesn’t regret doing the show.
“It was hard on my relationships, [and] it was hard on me so that was when I knew it was time to go; when it was when my heart wasn’t in it and I wasn’t living the type of life that made me happy,” she said, before adding that she had learned a lot — one of the main things being that it’s important to give your opinion when it is asked for. But yes, she would do it all again. “It brought so much good to my life,” she said. “It brought me to a place where I’m really happy.
Who else seriously misses The Hills right about now? Well, the rest is still unwritten.
