It’s been 17 years since Tom, 60, and Meg, 54, shared a scene on the big screen together. Ithaca, Meg’s directorial debut, brings these two veteran actor back together again. In the movie, Meg and Tom play the parents of 14-year-old Homer, who becomes a messenger during WWII.
The trailer only offers a short glimpse of Tom and Meg’s onscreen reunion, but it’s enough to make you cry. They share a sweet and loving glance at each other in the scene. Even after all these years, these two still have great chemistry.
Meg revealed that Tom’s brief scene in the movie only took one day to shoot. She told Entertainment Weekly that she’s so grateful that Tom took the time to make the cameo.
“He’s just so dear. He so did not have to do that,” she said. “At the end of his time, he says to the crew, ‘All right, gather ‘round. Listen, I know we’ve gotten to know each other very well over the last 10 hours together, but I just want to thank you for being here for my friend Meg.’”
Meg and Tom previously starred in rom-com classics like Joe Versus The Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. The movies remain beloved among their fans. There’s just something so right about seeing these two together on the big screen. Ithaca is set for a limited release on Sept. 9. The movie also stars Sam Shepard, 72, Hamish Linklater, 40, and Jack Quaid, 24, Meg’s real-life son. Ithaca first premiered at the Middleburg Film Festival.
