Tyler Hoechlin has officially put on his Superman cape — and is posing with his cousin for the first official pic. Yup, we’re kind of loving it.
The CW just released the first photo of Tyler Hoechlin, 28, in the iconic Superman suit and we have to see — he can rock it. In the photo, the cape of course is blowing in the wind while his cousin, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) looks stunning in her costume, as per usual.
Tyler as Superman, ie. Kal-El, ie. Clark Kent, will be first seen of season two, visiting Kara in National City.
“I’ve wanted Superman to be on the show from the beginning. Last season whenever Kara interacted with Clark through Instant Messaging, I always felt like there was something missing,” Melissa told Empire magazine at San Diego Comic-Con. Executive producer, Sarah Schechter added that last year she felt it was important to make the focus on Supergirl alone — and not for her to fall into the shadows of Superman.
“For us it was really interesting to get deeper into Kara’s family, and that includes Clark. Clark is the only surviving member of her family, so at a certain point it’s strange not to have that be part of her story,” Sarah added. So, what does Tyler think?
“Honestly, it’s still a little bit surreal and something that’s not fully sunk in yet. But I kind of like it that way, because it’s making it a little bit easier to really just look at the character for who he is,” he told the magazine. “Seeing the suit as a symbol, it takes care of itself. Realizing that this is just like any other person putting on a suit in the morning, going out to do what they do. That’s kind of made it a little bit easier to approach it. I’m just excited about finding out who Clark is and who Superman is as his human self outside of being able to do everything he does.”
HollywoodLifers, do you think Tyler makes a good Superman? Season two premieres on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8PM.
