Kim Kardashian is standing by her decision to strip down and post the photo on Instagram! In a new interview, the reality star explains why she shared the naked mirror selfie, and defends herself (again) against all the controversy. You go, girl!
“I was about to take a shower, I took a nude selfie, kept it in my phone for over a year. I just liked the picture, so I was like, ‘Let me put censor bars on it and post it,'” Kim Kardashian, 35, reveals to Harper’s Bazaar. “I don’t do things to be like, ‘This is powerful. I’m going to show you guys that this is my message.’ I’m not that type of person. I’m empowered by it, but I’m not doing it specifically to show power.”
When the magazine’s interviewer points out that she was surprised people were so offended by the photo, since we’ve seen Kim naked before, the 35-year-old can’t help but agree. “That’s what was so shocking,” she admits. “And when I put the bars on it, it was more covered up than a bikini!”
Kim faced criticism from fans and celebrities alike after sharing this photo, but one person who definitely wasn’t hating on it was her husband, Kanye West, 39. The rapper actually appears on the mag cover with Kim, and during the interview, he couldn’t help but praise her nude pics.
“I love her nude selfies,” he gushes, adding that he thinks Kim’s pics are amazing from every angle. He also compares his wife’s naked photos to “a modern version of a painting,” and says that her not showing them off would be the same as Adele never singing. Okay, we get it, Kanye!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Kim’s naked mirror selfie was inappropriate? Or do you agree with her that it wasn’t a big deal?
