The Democratic National Convention was a family affair on July 28! Chelsea Clinton finally took the stage to show her passionate support for her mom Hillary Clinton, and it was a beautiful moment. We have all the details on her heartfelt speech, right here!
Wow, that was truly touching! Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea Clinton finally spoke at the Democratic National Convention on July 28, and her speech was truly heartfelt and moving. She was bursting with pride for her mother, saying “I hope that my children will someday be as proud of me as I am of my mom. I’m so grateful to be her daughter, that she is Charlotte and Aidan’s grandmother. She makes me proud every single day. And Mom, Grandma would be so so proud of you tonight.” How sweet is that?!

Chelsea shared precious stories from her childhood, which made her mom seems so much more human. “Regardless of what was happening in her life, she was always always there for me,” said Chelsea. “Every soccer game, every softball game, every piano recital, every dance recital, Sundays spent together at church and the local library, making of stories about we would do if we ever met a triceratops.” However, the sweetest was of the things Hillary did to show Chelsea she cared when she was away.
“She left notes for me to open every day that she was gone,” Chelsea explained with tears in her eyes. “With a date on the front of each one. When she went to France, I remember one was all about the Eiffel Tower, another was about the ideas shed bring home to help the kids of Arkansas. They were another reminder that I was always in her thoughts and in her heart.”
Her speech culminated by explaining how her mother’s love expands beyond just she and her grandchildren. “I never once doubted that my parents cared about my thoughts and my ideas, and I always, always knew they loved me. That thought of being valued is what my mom wants for every child. It is the calling of her life.”
Chelsea also explained how her mom reacted when things didn’t go her way in the fight for universal health care. “It was bruising, it was exhausting. She fought her heart out, and she lost. It was pretty tough to watch. But my mom? She was amazing.” Chelsea explained that after some downtime and tons of family movie nights, “she just got right back to work.” So inspiring! “I know with all my heart that my mother will make us proud as president.”
Hillary’s daughter hasn’t been as active throughout her campaign as Donald Trump’s children have been. All five of his kids spoke at the convention, with Eric and Ivanka being a huge part of his campaign in general. However, that doesn’t mean that Chelsea isn’t as supportive of her mother. The 36-year-old just gave birth to her second child was born just a month ago, so this will be Chelsea’s first appearance since giving birth. What a perfect occasion to come out for!
