Blake Shelton covers Billboard and doesn’t hold anything back about his divorce to Miranda Lambert. He also uncovers similarities between Gwen Stefani’s split with Gavin Rossdale. But, did he just admit that Miranda cheated?
It’s been one heck of a year for Blake Shelton, 40. Fresh out of his divorce from Miranda Lambert, 32, he finally found happiness with Gwen Stefani, 46. But that didn’t come easy. The country crooner covers Billboard magazine, and in a candid interview, he reveals the highs and lows of being in the “middle of hell” following his split, and even explains similarities he and Gwen bonded over as they went through their breakups at almost the same time.
The rumor mill was turning at rapid speed when word of his divorce hit the public. Did he cheat? Did Miranda cheat? These were two major questions everyone had. While the two country musicians kept quiet about what really went down, Blake doesn’t hold too much back in his interview with the mag. He tells the story of how he told Gwen (who he says he didn’t know well at the time) about what was happening in his life, as the divorce was fresh and not public yet. He says Gwen responded to the news with, “I’m going through something very similar to what you’re going through. I understand. And I hate it.” Gwen, who hadn’t announced her split at the time either, was in the process of separating from her husband, Gavin Rossdale, 50, who had supposedly cheated on her with their nanny after 20 years together.
So, was the “similar” situation she was going through, also the same for Blake? It sounds that way, but we’re unsure of exactly what went down. However, more hints at Miranda’s possible unfaithful actions, came about when Blake spoke of his album. One of the songs on his album titled, “She’s Got a Way With Words,” is a witty track that spitefully references a lover who cheated and lied. Although Billboard admits Shelton did not write the song, they do admit, “if you want to assume it describes some of the facts of his divorce, he won’t stop you.” The Voice judge even divulged that the album triggers a “very specific time frame” in his life and that in the “bottom” of the album is “when it became painfully obvious that it wasn’t going to work out,” for his marriage.
All the signs seem to point in the direction that the singer was indeed cheated on, but he never openly admits anything, leaving us to ponder what exactly happened between he and Miranda. Maybe we will find out one day after the ashes have all settled. Right now, Blake is enjoying his relationship with Gwen and even gushed over how she “saved his life.”
