YouTube star Marina Joyce declared in a live stream with her fans that she is ‘totally fine’ after displaying strange behavior in her latest video, which hinted she may have been kidnapped. Now that fans know the 19-year-old is okay, find out more about Marina right here!
1. She’s British, but her popularity spreads beyond the UK.
As soon as speculation began that something serious was happening with Marina Joyce, fans all over the world were tweeting about the fashion blogger, eventually getting the hashtag #savemarinajoyce to trend in the United Kingdom and the United States. With more than 900,000 followers, Marina clearly appeals to lots of people!
2. There’s no abuse happening in her household.
In the videos that had fans worried, Marina had several bruises on her arms, about which she “can’t say what happened.” But her mom insisted in their live stream addressing the strange behavior that Marina’s family simply bruises easily, and that the marks were not the result of an abusive relationship. See the bruises in the video below:
3. Her “sketchy” meetup has been rescheduled.
In the middle of her odd behavior, Marina invited fans to party with her at 6:30 am on August 3 at a part of London that fans deemed “sketchy.” She took to Twitter after her live stream to announce that she was no longer holding the event on Aug. 3, but rather would be having an event on Saturday, Aug. 6 instead.
4. She’s given her fandom an interesting name.
According to Marina’s Twitter bio, she calls her fans the “Sacred Moon Cat Tribe.” It’s unclear where that comes from, but it certainly matches her quirky personality — and after all of this worry that she’s in danger, the Moon Cat Tribe definitely cares about her!
5. Even with her “I’m okay” announcement, fans are still concerned.
Although Marina and her mom both insisted that she’s doing just fine, fans thought she seemed a bit uneasy during her live stream. Her fellow YouTube star Sam Pepper tweeted that it’s attributed to her “serious drug addiction,” but she didn’t make any mention of drugs in her video. And since she couldn’t elaborate on the situation other than saying she’s “fine,” the fan speculation hasn’t really faded.
