OMG! A famous former Republican, supporting Hillary Clinton?! Ex-NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg explained why Independent voters should support Hil and not Donald Trump, saying ‘we need a problem solver, not a bomb thrower.’ Amen! We have all the details, right here.
Former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg has spent time on both sides of the aisles when it comes to politics, but on July 27 he stood firmly on the left while he gave Hillary Clinton a glowing review and completely obliterated Donald Trump.
“It is imperative that we elect Hillary Clinton as next president of the United States,” plead Michael. He explained that he is an Independent after running as both a Republican and a Democrat in the past, but that he knows Hil is the right choice. “I’ve supported elected officials from both sides of the aisle. I know what it’s like to have neither party fully represent my ideas or values. There are times when I disagree with Hillary Clinton, but I’ve come here to say we must put them aside for the good of our country.”
After giving Hillary his endorsement, he turned his attention to Donald. “Today as an Independent, an entrepreneur, and a former mayor, I believe we need a problem solver as president, not a bomb thrower. I know Hillary can do that because I saw it first hand,” said Michael. “[Donald]’s left behind a long documented record of bankruptcies and endless lawsuits and … disillusioned customers who feel they’ve been ripped off. Run the nation like he’s running his business? God help us! I know a con when I see one. The richest thing about Donald Trump is his hypocrisy!”
Michael’s appearance doesn’t really come out of the blue, as Bloomberg has been critical of his fellow New York billionaire, Trump. “We cannot ‘make America great again’ by turning out backs on the values that made us the world’s greatest nation in the first place,” Michael wrote in an March column, trashing Donald’s Muslim-ban, per The O.C. Register.
Of course, Michael wasn’t completely welcomed with open arms. When he was in office, Michael supported the New York Police Department’s program that spied on American Muslims in NYC. “I don’t think he should be here,” Mohammed Shariff, a Philly-based attorney that organized a Muslim delegate luncheon told The Intercept. Mazen Mokhtar, an official for the Muslim American Society, said that Bloomberg “should not be allowed to speak, or if he speaks, he should apologize for it.”
Donald thinks the opposite, as he tweeted in 2014 that “the NYPD Surveillance Program kept NYC safe since 9/11. There will be tragic consequences for ending it.” Well, if Muslim Democrats and Republican NYC former-mayors can agree on one thing, it’s that they don’t want Donald Trump in the White House come Jan. 20, 2017.
What did you think about Michael’s speech, HollywoodLifers? Are you still surprised that a Republican was allowed to speak at the Democratic National Convention?
