Fox News host Bill O’Reilly somehow thought it was appropriate to declare on air that the slaves who built the White House in 1800 didn’t have it half bad. Seriously. Click through to watch his absolutely offensive, WTF segment!
During the July 26th episode of his long-running Fox News program The O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly discussed First Lady Michelle Obama‘s speech at the DNC. Michelle’s July 25th speech included powerful remarks about about the United States’ sociocultural evolution, the fact that we now have a black president, and could be electing a woman in November 2016.
“Free blacks, whites and immigrants also worked on the massive building…In 1800, President John Adams took up residence in what was then called the Executive Mansion — it was only later on that they named it the White House. But later on, Adams was in there with Abigail, and they were still hammering nails, construction was still going on,” Bill rambled.
“The slaves that worked there were well-fed, and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slaves in 1802. However, the Feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor. Michelle Obama was essentially correct in citing slaves as the builders of the White House, but there were others working as well.”
Bill was talking about this part of Michelle’s speech: “I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves,” Michelle said. “And I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent black young women, playing with their dogs on the White House lawn.” What a speech! But what the hell, Bill?
Yes, Bill seriously said all of the above, and he did so cheerfully. He wholeheartedly believed he was agreeing with Michelle’s speech and just adding on a few fun facts. It’s ridiculous that this is all that he could take away from her incredibly inspiring speech. Michelle’s speech was phenomenal, an awe-inspiring bombshell that was simply breathtaking. She managed to take down Donald Trump without ever uttering his name, and praise Hillary Clinton to the highest degree. CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL SPEECH
“Because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters, and all our sons and daughters, now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States,” she said. “So, look, don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great. That somehow we need to make it great again. Because this, right now, is the greatest country on Earth!”
