The fifth annual Global Citizen Festival has one amazing lineup this year! From Rihanna to Selena Gomez to Kendrick Lamar, here’s the full list of performances happening on Sept. 24!
Rihanna, 29, Kendrick Lamar, 29, Selena Gomez, 24, Major Lazer and Metallica will be headlining the event, according to Entertainment Weekly. Chris Martin, 39, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, 51, Usher, 37, Ellie Goulding, 29, Yandel, 39, and Yusuf/Cat Stevens will also perform at the festival, which takes place on the Great Lawn in New York City’s Central Park. It’s going to be one star-studded event!
“I couldn’t be more honored to participate in the Global Citizen Festival as it continues to help solve important issues around the world,” Selena in a release. “I am particularly proud to be involved this year as the focus is on education. As an artist with many young fans, I believe everyone has the right to an education.”
The Global Citizen Festival is a free concert event that helps raise awareness about extreme poverty and hopes to end it by 2030. Chelsea Handler, 41, Deborra-Lee Furness, 60, Hugh Jackman, 47, Neil Patrick Harris, 43, Priyanka Chopra, 34, Salma Hayek, 49, and Seth Meyers, 42, will host the event. The concert will be streamed live on MSNBC, YouTube and iHeartRadio.
Last year, Beyonce, 34, performed a gorgeous rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” with Eddie. Beyonce also performed “Drunk In Love” with Ed Sheeran. Coldplay and Ariana Grande, 23, also hit the stage together for a special duet of “Just A Little Piece Of Your Heart.” First Lady Michelle Obama, 52, Vice President Joe Biden, 73, and more attended the special concert event. You can likely expect dozens of celebrities and political figures to show up this year!
