Violence once again struck Germany, as multiple gunmen opened fire at a busy shopping mall in Munich on July 22. The police say there were up to three shooters and they remain on the loose. Sadly, the authorities have confirmed that 9 people have been killed.
Germany is once again in mourning after a deadly shooting took place on July 22 at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping center in Munich, according to CNN. Police have confirmed that at least three shooters attacked shoppers, with one reportedly entering a McDonalds near the mall before opening fire.
Authorities are still piecing together all the horrific pieces of this latest attack. An early report from Agence France-Presse reported one dead and at least 10 people were injured, though the authorities have confirmed 9 people were killed. One of the alleged shooters may be among the dead.
The alleged gunman (or gunmen) is still on the run, fleeing the shopping center to head towards a railway station, according to German media reports, per RT.com. The mall has been evacuated to help the police search for clues on the shooter’s identity. While the shooting is officially over, according to police spokeswoman Claudia Kvenzel, citizens have been told to stay away from the shopping center.

This instance sadly echoes an early shooting that happened near Frankfurt, Germany on June 23. A 19-year-old German (whose name has not been released) walked within a Kinopolis movie theater in Viernheim, Germany and started shooting. He took numerous people hostages and injured at least 25 before he was killed by the police.
Germany was still in shock over the horrific axe attack committed by a 17-year-old on a train near Wurtzburg. The young man, who reportedly used the name Riaz Khan Ahmadzai, went on a rampage with both a knife and an axe, slashing and hacking before the police shot him to death. Though initial reports claimed at least 20 victims, only four were hurt, with three suffering serious injuries. Islamic State claimed responsibility for that attack, as well as for the Bastille Day massacre where one man plowed his truck through a crowd of partygoers, killing at least 85.
We will continue to update this story with new details and further developments, HollywoodLifers. In the meantime, our thoughts are with Germany as they deal with this latest tragedy.
