John Edwards’ love affair with Rielle Hunter may have been eight years ago, but today she is revealing the details inside their relationship as co-parents to the their daughter Quinn. Rielle confesses that she and John are ‘friends,’ and breaks her silence on what life is actually like after the public affair.
Rielle Hunter, 52, sat down with ABC News’ Amy Robach, 43, to discuss the details inside her life after the 2008 scandal with former Sen. John Edwards, 63. In a candid and rare interview she revealed the status of her relationship with John, and even talked about loving him. “We’re very, very good friends,” Rielle said. “We’re great coparents. We have the same goals,” she added. “We want the best for Quinn.”
Frances Quinn Hunter, 8, is the daughter they share after the love affair that disrupted John’s 2008 presidential run and ultimately ended his political career. Rielle also revealed she is writing a children’s book with Quinn, titled, “Howie Do It — Finding Happiness Now, featuring illustrations by her daughter.
Amy points out that whenever Rielle is asked if she loves John she’s “always said yes.” Rielle responded with, “Oh absolutely. I view him as my family. I absolutely love him. We’ll alway love him.”
Although Rielle and John are friends today, her affair with the former politician ruined his marriage. The two had an affair in 2007 while he was still married to his breast cancer stricken wife Elizabeth, who estranged him from the couple’s three children for a period of time. John was campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination when Rielle gave birth to their daughter in February 2008. The former Sen. denied he fathered a child, dismissing any allegations of the affair. Finally in 2010, the same year Elizabeth passed away, John admitted he was Quinn’s father. He even issued an apology in 2013 through the Huffington post.
