T.R. Knight is coming back to Thursday nights! The actor, who played the beloved George O’Malley on ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ has joined a Shonda Rhimes show. Is he coming back to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’? Get the details!
Sorry, but T.R. Knight, 43, is not returning to Grey’s Anatomy. George O’Malley is truly dead. But T.R. is joining The Catch, Shonda Rhimes’ latest drama, our sister site Variety reports. He’ll play a recurring character. The Catch has been renewed for season 2, but it does not have a premiere date yet.
“Shonda, Betsy and I are beyond excited to have T.R. back in the Shondaland family — and on The Catch in a role the was created and written especially for him,” showrunner Allan Heinberg said.
Shonda made our hearts melt with her statement on T.R.’s return to Shondaland. “One of my favorite family members is home!” she said. T.R. added, “Working with Shonda, Betsy, and Allan again fills me with immense joy. I am heartened to be returning to Shondaland and excited to work with this exceptional cast!”
Even before he booked his role on The Catch, T.R. was already set to return to ABC. He booked a role in another ABC pilot. Shonda just had to get her hands on him again!
T.R. played George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy for five seasons. He was killed off in the shocking season 5 finale after jumping in front of a bus to save a girl. During his time on the hit show, T.R. received an Emmy nomination for his role.
Since leaving Grey’s Anatomy, T.R. has made appearances on Law & Order: SVU and The Good Wife. His most recent onscreen appearance was in Hulu’s 11.22.63. We can’t wait to see T.R. on TGIT!
