Stuart Scott is gone but he’s certainly not forgotten. The late ESPN anchor would have been 51 years old on July 19, and fans and sports stars like Chad Johnson took a moment to wish him a happy birthday. Click to see!
Though Stuart Scott never won a NBA Championship or lifted the Lombardi Trophy at the end of a Super Bowl, he was still one of the biggest names in sports. The ESPN anchor that helped turn ESPN into the location of sports passed away from cancer in 2015. On what was supposed to be his birthday, fans and players remembered him as what he was: a legend.
Birthdays are normally happy events, but to players like Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, 38, the day was marked by sadness since Stuart wasn’t here to celebrate. Fans remarked that ESPN’s SportsCenter hasn’t been the same since his passing. However, his fellow sports journalists, like Dave Holmes, were glad to see how the world still remembered Stuart as “the greatest of all time.”
SportsCenter is not the same without Stuart Scott. RIP to the 🐐, a true inspiration.

The last time Stuart Scott trended, it made me sad. Today, it makes me smile when I remember him. Happy birthday, Stu.

Stuart’s death in 2015 was a huge blow to the sports world. He had been battling cancer since 2007, and while many had hoped he would kick it, he ultimately lost the fight. The loss devastated his coworkers as both Hannah Storm, 54, and Rich Eisen, 47, broke down in tears when paying tribute to him.
Even a year after his death, the loss was still felt. His daughters, Taelor, 20 and Sydni Scott, 16, shared a beautiful tribute on the anniversary of his death. While penning an open letter, they thanked their father for teaching them that “through [his] vulnerability…you taught us the real value of strength in never giving up.” Clearly, on Stuart’s birthday, it’s a message that everyone remembers.
