Things are getting crazy at the Republican National Convention. Believe it or not, chief strategist Sean Spicer actually quoted ‘My Little Pony’ in an interview on July 19 to prove Melania Trump didn’t plagiarize Michelle Obama. You’ve gotta see this, here.
The RNC has taken a turn for the wacky on July 19. Melania Trump, 46, has been taking a lot of heat since her speech the night before was revealed to be almost identical to the one Michelle Obama, 52, gave at the DNC in 2008. Now, chief strategist of the RNC Sean Spicer is coming to her defense, and he’s doing it by quoting a beloved children’s TV show.
“Melania Trump said ‘the strength of your dreams and willingness to work for them.’ Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony said ‘this is your dream, anything you can do in your dreams you can do now.’ I mean if we wanna take a bunch of phrases and run them through Google and say ‘hey who else has said them,’ I can come up with a list in five minutes and that’s what this is.”
We get what he’s saying, but Sean is ignoring the fact that it’s not just a couple phrases that sound similar to various other sources. Melania’s speech was almost verbatim the same as Michelle’s. It was almost the exact same words in the exact same order.
Plus, what Melania said was much closer to what Michelle said that what Twilight Sparkle said, with Michelle’s quote being “the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work hard for them.” and Melania’s being, “the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.” Yeah, that sounds like more than a coincidence to us.
