Macaulay Culkin has gone through some rough patches in his life, but despite reports, he was never ‘pounding’ heroin while sitting home alone. Mac spoke on those long-time substance abuse rumors, reassuring fans that there’s no reason for them to be concerned!
For a moment, it seemed that Macaulay Culkin, 35, was knocking on death’s door. Following his breakup with Mila Kunis, 32, in 2012, whenever My Girl actor appeared in public, it looked like he hadn’t eaten in weeks. Mac’s appearance fueled rumors he was addicted to heroin and oxycodone, something Macaulay has finally put to rest!
“No, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month of whatever,” Macaulay told The Guardian when discussing that time of his life. Though Mac was arrested for drug possession in 2004 — he was busted with marijuana, Xanax and clonazepam — he said that it was no reason to for anyone to be worried. “The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern,” he said. “No, you’re trying to shift papers.”
When asked if he would ever spill the dirty details, the Party Monster actor replied, “Perhaps.” Here’s hoping for a detailed memoir. Now, while it’s good Mac shot down those long-time rumors of his pain killer addition, he can’t be surprised that fans were sincerely concerned about his health. When he was spotted filming The Jim Gaffigan Show, the former Kevin from Home Alone was barely recognizable!
Let’s not forget that famous “Macaulay Is Dead hoax” in 2014. Someone spread a malicious rumor that he had passed away. Thankfully, that wasn’t true. “I’m alive!” he told fans at 2014’s Fun Fun Fun Fest, right before his Velvet Underground-meets-Dominos band, The Pizza Underground, performed. He even mocked the death rumor by posing in a morbid photo. Though it was pretty dark, it was also pretty funny.
What do you think about Macaulay putting those “heroin addiction” rumors to rest, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Macaulay will ever write a tell-all or go into detail about what happened?
