‘America’s Got Talent’ fans were crushed when Rubik’s cube magician Steven Brundage was cut in round two of Judge Cuts, and fans were eager to see what Tape Face’s fate was in Week 8. Find out if he made it to the live shows right here!
With George Lopez on hand to help with the tough decision making, the America’s Got Talent judges sent seven lucky acts through to the live shows once again on July 19. Some heartbreaking cuts were made, but that’s only because there were so many fantastic second auditions!
Jose and Carrie the dancing dog danced the merengue to kick off the night. Once again, Heidi Klum wasn’t super enthused, but Simon Cowell was still a fan — he told Mel B and Heidi that they weren’t giving him enough credit!
Small town singer Daniel Joyner impressed the judges with his voice but not his stage presence in his first audition, so boy did he change things up this time around! He performed Michael Buble‘s “Feeling Good” and made Mel couldn’t help calling it “hot”!
Beatboxing brothers Ilan and Josh and dance crew The Finest Family didn’t wow the judges the way they did when they first auditioned, but magician Blake Vogt sure did. After swallowing a corner of a $1 bill and a $100 bill, he somehow managed to not just cough them back up, but also attach them to the opposite bills. Sure, it sounds like a strange trick, but it had the judges completely blown away!
Alla and Daniel Novikov, the mother-son dancing pair, danced an awesome number to Pitbull’s “Fireball,” and that little 8-year-old boy just keeps wowing everyone! Charles & Rose brought a different kind of dancing to the stage (one Heidi called “absurd”), but the boys all loved it. Not really sure how they have a toughie like Simon on their side!
Kung Fu Kid Mason Bumba then gave another energized martial arts performance, followed by another odd yet charming act from the one and only Tape Face. Between a funny flying routine (which involved a toothbrush and Tom Petty) and a silly singing act using Howie’s stomach, Tape Face had everyone loving him just as much the second time around!
The singing acts have some of the toughest competition this season, so Good Girl and Dominique Dy didn’t manage to get a good review from the judges. But then Madison Watkins came along and got a roaring round of applause, even getting Heidi to say she’ll fight for her in the end!
Charlie Placais got all the ladies riled up with his acrobatics (and his six pack), but eight-man dance squad Malevo absolutely blew him out of the water. Heck, they practically outdid everyone of the night so far — so much so that George hit his Golden Buzzer! Yep, we’ll be seeing this powerhouse crew in the live shows…in fact, we may just be seeing these guys going all the way. They’re incredible!
Ian Stewart is by far one of this season’s most dangerous acts, but even though his crossbow routine was pretty unbelievable, he lost the judges along the way with his lack of charisma. Providing a little more entertainment, Ryan Stock (and AmberLynn) made the judges cringe once again by putting a blow torch out with his tongue, holding a chainsaw with his teeth, and swallowing a drill. Their act may be hard to watch, but there’s certainly nothing like them — we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re one of the six others to make it to the live shows and make the judges cower once again!
Comedians Al Ducharme and Ryan Beard had a lot of pressure on them with George as the guest judge, and unfortunately both of them fell flat. So when Sam Morril took the stage, George and the judges were ready to laugh, and that’s exactly what they did. He was hilarious!
Last but not least, Brian Justin Crum sang a haunting rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep.” Just like his first audition, it was one of the most breathtaking performances we’ve seen yet this season. As the judges went into the decision room, it was easy to assume he’d be the first one through!
And we have the chosen seven! Along with Malevo, the acts who will be competing in the live shows are: Alla and Daniel, Daniel Joyner, Ryan Stock and AmberLynn, Blake Vogt, and Brian Justin Crum, and (drum roll please)…TAPE FACE! Let the weirdness continue!
