It turns out, it takes some major hair skills to be part of the US Olympics Gymnastics team. Returning champ and team captain, Aly Raisman, shared exactly how she gets her competition-worthy sleek bun, plus how she takes care of her hair post-performance. Get the details, ahead!
Aly Raisman, 22, is headed back to the Olympics, representing team US with teammates Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian. But before she sets off to Rio, Aly shared all of her favorite products for keeping her hair healthy despite having to be slicked back so often.
A fan of Living Proof products, Aly relies on the brand during and after competing. For her signature high knot, Aly starts by brushing through her hair to remove tangles and sprays Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray over her hair to give it some grip before pulling it back. Then, she pulls her hair into a high ponytail and sprays it with more hairspray before twisting her hair into a knot.
To keep her bun in place from the beam to the vault, Aly uses 8 hair ties! “You have to be so clean in gymnastics,” she said in an interview with Living Proof. “If your hair is loose, your body feels loose.”
Once she’s at home, Aly’s favorite products include Living Proof Nourishing Oil, Dry Shampoo and the Restore Mask. “My hair is up all the time. When I’m traveling for a competition, I can’t wait to come home, relax and use that mask,” she said.
