The first police officer killed by Gavin Long in Baton Rouge on July 17 has now been identified as Montrell Jackson. Montrell had just become the father to a baby boy, Mason, when he was viciously gunned down along with two fellow officers.
Montrell Jackson had just become a father before he was murdered in cold blood by Gavin Long, 29, in Baton Rouge, according to his reported former partner. Montrell posted pics of his darling little boy, Mason. His baby boy was born in April 13, and Montrell was so happy to be a father.
The proud father made a precious photo of his newborn son, who’s a handsome little guy, his Facebook cover photo on April 13. A friend asked him in the comments how “daddyhood” was going for him. “NO SLEEP! LOL. I wouldn’t trade him for the world though,” he replied. It’s so sweet, and so heartbreaking, knowing what became of him.
A man named Marcus Tillman referred to Montrell as his former partner on Facebook, and paid tribute to him in a beautiful way. “Rest In Peace to my former partner and one of the best cops I’ve ever known…His name was Montrell Jackson!”
Montrell was murdered in a bloody shooting rampage by Gavin, who fatally shot two other officers, and seriously injured three others. Those injured officers remained in the hospital in critical condition following the shooting. Montrell, as of now, is the only officer to be identified.
Police in Baton Rouge are still searching for two other individuals who may have assisted Gavin in committing the atrocious crime. They were thought to either be wearing black clothing, or army fatigues. They may have been wearing masks, as well. Gavin was the only shooter, however.
HollywoodLifers, our thoughts are with Montrell’s family during this terrible time.
